Pulling Us Through by LaToya Wilson
Several years ago, I dreamed that I was pulling my children on a rope while gliding on roller skates, darting around corners of streets in an unfamiliar city.
I remember looking behind me, yelling to them, “keep holding on,” as we continued to escape from the abandonment, homelessness, and insufficiencies that seemingly chased us every second of our life.
Deuteronomy 3:16 states, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
During the darkest seasons of my life, as a single parent, I felt alone, weak, afraid, and unequipped to rear four children.
Who was going to help me hold it together? Who was going to protect my family within the perimeters where I could not see or reach them?
I didn’t recognize it then but it was always God—right there, leading, guiding, pushing, and pulling us through.
